Winter Island
Autumn and winter on Bornholm offer the opportunity to experience nature and city life in a different way. The island changes character and the spectacular nature becomes more raw. On the winter island of Bornholm, you automatically slow down and find time for contemplation and presence. Island of Sunshine
Summer is back, bathrobes are back and all our guests enjoy starting the day with a swim. It's also nice to think that summer lasts longer here on Bornholm, both because the rocks retain the heat and because we have more hours of sunshine than the rest of the country. So hopefully we can look forward to another good month of summer.
The restaurant is beautiful whatever the weather, where you'll be pampered all day long by our fantastic restaurateurs Troels and Daniel and their skilled kitchen team. It's almost like being in a "sea movie theater" to sit here and enjoy the view.

On the cover of Gastro
Summer is in full swing at Melsted Badehotel, and the hotel is full of happy and expectant summer guests. According to Gastro magazine, the country's historic seaside hotels are back in great shape, which is why the editors have also visited the seaside hotel in the annual summer edition of the magazine. Gastro visits 4 of the country's best seaside hotels, including Melsted Badehotel, which has been given the entire cover of the magazine.
A big part of being at a seaside hotel is the dining experience. We are so happy that Troels Madsen and Daniel Kruse are now working their magic in the kitchen. That's why it's so nice to be recognized by Gastro, who followed Troels Madsen in the kitchen and appreciated our local connection, the importance of good ingredients and the honest, well-prepared food our restaurant offers for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Our Culinary Holiday Island
There's almost always something exciting happening here on our lovely holiday island. Folkemødet is well over in beautiful weather with lots of happy guests who have debated, networked and enjoyed themselves.
This wonderful festival for democracy will be replaced next weekend by Culinary Island - Bornholm's Food Festival with, among other things, Denmark's largest chef competition; Sol over Gudhjem - and we are both proud and grateful that participants and judges have chosen to stay at Melsted Badehotel.

Spring at the beach hotel
On April 30th, we opened our doors and inaugurated the swimming season with the traditional Big Swim Day. We are very grateful to see so many familiar faces here, both at the opening and during the first month of the season. It's the best seal of approval we can get that our guests want to come back.
In recognition of this, we would like to give you as our guest the opportunity to get priority to rebook next year within 4 weeks of check-out. Denmark's 3rd best seaside hotel
Melsted Badehotel was voted Denmark's 3rd best seaside hotel in Opdag Danmark's annual poll. We are very proud of this after our 1st season on Bornholm. Thank you so much to all of you who sent a vote our way.
Troels, Daniel and the rest of the team were also well received at Easter and are looking forward to reopening the next two weekends with a new seasonal menu and a new a la carte dishes until the bathing hotel opens on April 30 with the Big Bathing Day.

The restaurant opens at Easter
Together with much of Bornholm, we're opening the restaurant already for Easter! Troels, Daniel and co. are in full preparation and are looking forward to opening the doors with a special Easter menu, a selected lunch menu and delicious a la carte dishes. We open for lunch and dinner service from Wednesday, April 5 and will be open through Easter Sunday, April 9 and the following weekends until the beach hotel opens as planned with the Big Bathing Day on April 30.

New restaurateur at Melsted Badehotel
We are thrilled to announce that the two experienced chefs Daniel Kruse and Troels Madsen, known from both Det Røde Pakhus, Molen and former Christianshøjkroen, have taken over responsibility for Restaurant Melsted Badehotel. With this collaboration, we dare to promise that the dining experience at Melsted Badehotel will reach new heights, and we look forward to an exciting new season, where we together can ensure our guests a total experience in a class of its own here at Bornholm's best location.

A great season!
It seems like yesterday, May 1st, when we stood with butterflies in our stomachs, excited to welcome the first season at the new Melsted Badehotel. Because from there it went quickly. We have had lots of happy guests, both staying overnight and in the restaurant. The months flew by with visits from both new and returning guests. We were excited about your feedback and fortunately we received a lot of praise for the renewal the seaside hotel has undergone. You can read a selection of the many fine reviews here in the newsletter.
Now we're just looking forward to welcoming you all back next year.

Autumn is glowing
Bornholm has just been named Denmark's best holiday destination 2022 at the traditional and prestigious Danish Travel Awards.
Bornholm is beautiful all year round, but in the fall, when calm descends on the island, there's something special about being here. The colors deepen, the blues and golds increase. The beautiful colors of autumn wave over the woods and meadows, and the sea seems to change color every day. If you think the island closes because the temperature drops, you're wrong.

Summer smiles on us
We have a house full of happy guests in the rooms and in the restaurant. We are very grateful for the interest you have shown us. Our terrace with sublime views really comes into its own here in the Danish summer, where you can sit overlooking the beach, the water and the cliffs.
After lunch on the terrace, you can retreat to the tranquil garden and soak up the sun in one of our comfortable sun loungers. A large part of the garden has been left "wild on purpose" to create cozy spaces in the garden and give biodiversity a hand.

What a month
On May 1st, we opened the doors to the new Melsted Badehotel with a new tradition, inaugurating the bathing season here at the bathing hotel with the Big Bathing Day. In blazing sunshine, Bornholmers and guests turned out in large numbers for our opening reception. Thank you for the great interest, your good mood and not least your enthusiasm to see what we have been working on all winter. There was a lot of traffic to see the rooms, the garden and visit the restaurant. The tables were fully booked on the first evening and have been more or less ever since.

The countdown has begun
It is with great pleasure that we have entered the last month before we open our doors on May 1st. Spring is budding on Bornholm, the sun is warming and the craftsmen are working hard. A thorough renovation of all rooms, the restaurant and the living room is nearing completion. Beautiful wallpapers, high panels and simple stylish decor are the surroundings that greet you when you enter Melsted Badehotel.

The renewal of Melsted Badehotel
We are in the process of renovating the rooms, restaurant and living room so that the hotel is ready to receive guests on May 1st. At the same time, we are planning an exciting season, so you can experience the best of Bornholm at Melsted Badehotel.
For example, we are very pleased to announce that we have entered into a collaboration with our neighbor, Gaarden - Center for Bornholm Food Culture, which is just a stone's throw from Melsted Badehotel. This allows us to offer unique and tailor-made experiences in our local area.

Turning over a new leaf
As the new owners, we are very excited to have taken over Melsted Badehotel and look forward to writing a new chapter in this beautiful hotel history.
Our goal is to create Bornholm's best seaside hotel. Based on the seaside hotel's high standard and iconic appearance, the interior is being renovated in a classic style. With respect for the hotel's basic DNA and zeitgeist, all nooks and crannies will be refined and decorated over the winter so that we are ready to receive you in May 2022.
