Melsted Seaside Hotel is Bornholm's first seaside hotel, dating back to 1932. It is completely undisturbed on its own 18,000 sqm idyllic beachfront property, directly on Melsted Beach on Bornholm's east coast, within walking distance of Gudhjem.

Since I took over Melsted Seaside Hotel in November 2021, the ambition has been clear: to further develop the Seaside Hotel with respect for its history and with a focus on quality, hospitality, and holistic experiences.
My family and I have many years of experience in hotel management in both Denmark and South Africa, where we, among other things, operate Nyati Safari Lodge. Common to both places is the desire to create engaging stays where nature, gastronomy, beautiful surroundings, and high service unite in perfect harmony – a place you want to return to.
The direction we have taken has been met with great support and recognition. Melsted Seaside Hotel was named Best Seaside Hotel in Zealand & the Islands in 2024 and 2025, and in 2026, it was included in the Michelin Guide Hotels, an international recognition awarded to hotels with exceptionally high quality in overall experience, service, atmosphere, and design.
Our goal is to create Bornholm's best Seaside Hotel – supported by a dedicated team, classic surroundings, and a deep love for this place by the water's edge.

At Melsted Seaside Hotel, hospitality has always been at the heart of the experience – and today, this tradition is carried on by the married couple Mathias Sejer Sørensen and Andrea Aguirre Suarez, who, with calm professionalism and genuine warmth, set the tone for daily life at the hotel.
For Mathias and Andrea, good hospitality is about creating a place that feels authentic and homely, deeply rooted in Bornholm, the surrounding nature, and the history here by the water's edge in Gudhjem. A Seaside Hotel where the atmosphere is relaxed, the details are well-thought-out, and guests are met with attention and respect.
Their ambition is for everyone who arrives to immediately feel the unique tranquility that characterizes Melsted – and to feel welcome in a way that cannot be formalized, but must be experienced. A place where one can let go of everyday life, follow the changing seasons, and experience Bornholm at their own pace.
